New team for the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake
Incredible, but true: There is new about Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake. Now it is being developed in Canada.
In the meantime, the Prince of Persia could also rename himself in Odysseus, because what has happened to the charismatic fighter in recent years is more like an odyssey than a fairy tale from a thousand and a night. A remake of the modern classic Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was announced by Ubisoft during the fast forward presentation in September 2020 and was to be released only a few months later on January 21, 2021. At that time, the Indian studios in Mumbai and Pune were responsible for the development, which otherwise actually do support work for other teams within the group.
However, the first user opinions were anything but euphoric. The material shown to date was criticized as old -fashioned and especially the design of the prince was denounced. The first damper took place shortly before the planned publication. The game was postponed to March 18. But the Odyssey, which continued to this day, started. Just a few weeks later, early February 2021, Ubisoft announced that the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake was postponed indefinitely.
Actually, the subsequent E3 in the summer of 2021 or the Summer Game would have been a good opportunity to show initial progress after the numerous shifts, but the Prince of Persia completely disappeared from the scene. Ubisoft only indicated that the game would appear in 2022 at the earliest. So far, this has also covered the information from the quarterly report October 2021. According to this, the game was temporarily planned for the 2022/2023 financial year, which ends on March 31, 2023.
Now there is a new turn that could perhaps put the prince into somewhat quieter fairway: Ubisoft announced yesterday that the development will no longer take place in Mumbai and Pune, but was relocated to Montreal. From then on, Ubisoft's flagship studio, which has already developed the original, takes care of the remake. However, this means that many things have to be re -evaluated and classified. It is therefore not surprising that no release period is now given. On the part of the team it only says: it comes when it is finished.
We don't know whether the Odyssey finally ends with it, but it would be desirable. Otherwise, the fairy tale from a thousand and a night becomes a never -ending nightmare.
