The 3rd day of the NFL Drafts 2022 ended the long wait of the fifth high -traded quarterback in the class, but only after a strange run sparked on a tin. Georgia set up a new record, while a rookie QB could possibly start directly.

NFL Draft 2022: Curios Run on Punter

The biggest excitement of the third day in Draft 2022 was certainly the inexplicable run on kicker and spun in round 4.

After the 4th round started relatively normal with a few running backs, cornerbacks and offensive Tackles as dominant positions, the Cleveland Browns provided the 124th pick for the first exclamation mark. They pulled kicker Cade York from LSU. Just six picks later it was the Baltimore Ravens who secured the first lesson with Jordan Stout (Penn State). The Tampa Bay Buccaneers then did not let themselves be ripped off and pulled the next with the 133. Pick in Jake Camarda (Georgia).

It was all the more surprising that the most prominent period of this class, "Punt God" Matt Araiza from San Diego State even had to wait until the 6th round before the Buffalo Bills took him off the board.

NFL Draft 2022: The long waiting of the Sam Howell

North Carolina's Quarterback Sam Howell was not too long ago as a possibly the best quarterback in the class. But after Kenny Pickett, only one QB on day 1 and with Desmond Ridder, Malik Willis and Matt Corral were only pulled three more on day 2, Howell had to wait much longer than was expected before the start of the third day.

It was only with the 144th Pick in round 5 that Howell heard his name - the Washington Commanders redeemed him and now give him a chance to fight for the backup spot behind Carson Wentz at least with Taylor Heinicke. But Howell wasn't even the first QB to be pulled on Saturday.

The New England Patriots surprised everyone again and chose Western Kentuckys Bailey Zappe in round 4 (137th pick). Zappe recently destroyed the FBS record with 62 touchdown passes and could be backup from Mac Jones this season.

NFL Draft 2022: Pickett starts in week 1?

The only QB that was drawn in round 1 was Kenny Pickett. On Saturday, Steelers Head coach Mike Tomlin commented on his new rookie QB in the NFL Network and made you look forward.

Tomlin said that Picket "certainly has a chance" not only to challenge Mitch Trubisky, but also to start directly from the start of the season.

Pickett comes from the University of Pittsburgh and, according to Tomlin, has the "highest floor" of all quartersbacks of this draft from the Steelers' point of view. Trubisky, in turn, acted as a Buffalo Bills backup in the previous year and had now come to Pittsburgh with the hope of succeeding Team legend Ben Roethlisberger, who ended his career.

NFL Draft 2022: Ravens pull the heaviest players ever

The Baltimore Ravens, who generally put a very good draft - more about this in the Draft Grades on the month at NFL Draft - caused a rather extraordinary record with one of their picks. They pulled Minnesota's offensive tackle Daniel Faalele with the 110th pick in the draft. He comes from Australia and used to play rugby and basketball before going to the States, where he started football at the high school.

But that is not yet something special about him. Not even the fact that it is 2.03 meters tall. No, remarkable of Faalele is rather its weight. With his Pro Day several weeks ago, he weighed £ 390, which is almost 177 kilograms. He is currently to weigh 174 kilograms, which would still be NFL record- when he came to the Gopher, he then even weighed 193 kilograms. What a colossus!

NFL Draft 2022: Georgia Bulldogs ensure record

A whopping 15 players from the National Champion Georgia Bulldogs were selected by the teams in this year's draft. This means a new draft record for a single college in a year with a draft that goes over seven rounds. College football playoff participant Cincinnati Bearcats came to nine players who were drawn, which means personal record for the surprise team of the pre-season.

NFL: Future of Baker Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo further open

The draft began with the expectation that quarterback Baker Mayfield (Browns) and Jimmy Garoppolo (49ers) could be traded during the draft. However, the draft passed without much movement in these personal details.

And after the Carolina Panthers ultimately pulled Matt Corral after an uptrade at the end of the third round, both QBS gradually run out of the options. Carolina is probably no longer in the raffle and the Seattle Seahawks, according to Head Coach Pete Carroll, have full confidence in their QB Room around Drew Lock and Geno Smith, although the latter should even be ahead, according to Carroll.

How it goes on with Mayfield is completely open. However, there is currently no issue. But this also applies to Garoppolo, which seems conceivable that he will stay in San Francisco for a year in the end - and which even starts, even if Trey Lance continues to be the job.
