Marvel vs. Capcom 2: Disney and Capcom Supposedly in conversation for new edition
The fighting game classic Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes should learn a revival according to reports. Allegedly Disney and Capcom are in conversations for a new edition of the classic.
A campaign to the Comeback of the Crossover game was started by Maximilian Dood, a Youtuber, whose content is about fighting games. This attracted the attention of Digital Eclipse, a studio that has worked with both Disney and Capcom to redefine some of its old games.
Studiohef Mike Mika has expressed his support for the re-publication of the game. In the interview with Shacknews, Mika has employed further considerations as that could be possible. He knows about a certain communication between Capcom and Disney, and the companies also noticed the online presence of the campaign.
A first hurdle would be the bad relationship between the two companies, mainly returned to Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Development was due to excessive control over the player s gadder and the character representation in trouble.
The second point are copyright and investment to bring back the game. Between the two decades since the publication of the game and the current climate in which all three companies are located, many changes have arisen.
Mika explains that most likely lawyers would be involved by all sides that would have to find all relevant information required for a Remaster the superhero-crossovers, which would cause tremendous costs:
This can often be just as much, if not more than the budget of the game itself.
Whether Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes actually receives a Remaster remains pure speculation because there is neither Disney nor Capcom or Digital Eclipse an official opinion.
